I can’t say there was an exact moment—a sudden realization of some sort where I just “knew” I was meant to be a photographer (unlike the time I discovered Nutella and knew I could never part with it). In fact, I had no intention of becoming a photographer… nor did I ever dream of it. Where I am today is due entirely to a culmination of fateful, divine moments that have all led to my here and now. It’s difficult to explain the mind but even more difficult to explain the heart. I grew up knowing determination, hard work, and sacrifice. My mind was prepared to do whatever it took but my heart… oh, that heart. It so desperately yearned to dream and create and love with every ounce in me.
I graduated with a degree in Interior Design where I focused on architecture and design principles revolving around symmetry, balance, focal points, and detail. Little did I know that all of that was preparing me to embark on a journey filled with an intense, consuming love for the art of photography. I fell hard and I fell fast, much like I did for my husband, but that’s a whole other story for a whole other time, yes? The truth is, I never chose to become a photographer, rather it chose me. So here I am, doing the one thing I never knew I always needed; the thing in life I never knew I had always dreamed of.
To me, wedding photography is much more than just photographing one’s wedding day. It’s a set of moments that will lead to the most beautiful story ever told; one that was written to make sense of this world and make it go round. Being able to tell that story through my photographs makes me feel like the luckiest girl around.
At the core of who I am is my faith in Jesus Christ. I want nothing more than to reflect His love and live according to His will. Besides my career and passion in the art of photography, I am hopelessly in love and devoted to my husband, Adi (who is my business partner and second shooter), and our little family. In the summer of 2012, we welcomed our sweet baby boy, Emerson, into our lives and into our hearts. The role of wife and mother has been the greatest of my life and I’m blessed to do life alongside my two loves. When we’re not traveling for work or photographing weddings, you can find the three of us at our home in South Florida swimming, cooking together, biking, reading, and creating memories.
