Daniela & Elliott were married in one of the sweetest, most charming weddings that we’ve had the great opportunity to photograph. This couple is special to us in so many ways and on our way home from North Carolina, we gratefully brought them and their new marriage before God as we thanked Him for blessing us with their love. As you will read below, their day didn’t revolve around the beautiful details that they so carefully and thoughtfully planned out, but around the pure joy they feel in loving one another. Daniela’s best friend and maid of honor Mallory, puts it best below:
To Daniela and Elliott:
Some weddings are memorable for the decor, some for the food, and some for the fun. Yours was special in all of these areas, but to me the most memorable part of your wedding was the joy that spread across your faces each time your eyes met that day. It was a look that didn’t require words and conveyed more than words ever could. It embodied your excitement and your disbelief that you get to spend the rest of your life with someone so special. You shared the look while walking down the aisle, having your photos taken, entering the reception, greeting guests, and leaving through a tunnel of sparklers. But the best part was that the look was not about the hand chosen centerpieces, the delicious food, or the laughs we all shared throughout the day. It was a pure and simple look born out of your excitement for each other. I was beyond blessed watching you prepare for not merely a wedding but a marriage. Your joy was contagious, and that is what made your wedding day one to remember.
Daniela carefully planned out the day’s details to be feminine, romantic, and classy with a touch of southern garden charm. I adored these Etsy robes she gifted her beautiful maids.
Daniela is breathtakingly beautiful but she thought it was quite amusing every time I told her this. So basically, she’s humble, gorgeous, and has great taste. How do I get so lucky with these brides?!
Adi hung out with the dashing groom and captured some great shots of a really great group of guys.
Daniela’s mother custom made the top of her dress and sewed it on her to guarantee the best fit possible. As this was happening, they all cried tears as they reminisced about Daniela growing up, dreaming about that very moment. And by they, I mean me too.
I mean, just stunning.
When Daniela and I first started working on her wedding timeline, she told me that her and Elliott weren’t sure about doing a First Look. After weighing all her options, they chose to go forward with one and they couldn’t have been happier with their decision. Not only was it one of the best moments of the day, but it allowed for all the photos to be finished prior to their ceremony, which in turn gave them time to relax and enjoy their wedding!
First Look reactions are some of my favorite to photograph and these were definitely at the top of my list. Afterwards, we roamed around a picture perfect park in Charlotte, North Carolina where we took all of their portraits.
I just wanted to share a story about Daniela that made me anticipate her wedding day with everything in me. In December 2011, I received the sweetest email from Daniela filled with the kindest words of encouragement. She quoted me a blogpost I had written and I read words from her that resonated with me for years to come. I cried silent tears because though she doesn’t know this, I needed those words of encouragement during that time in my life more than ever. She concluded by telling me that when she would one day meet her husband, she would love for me to photograph her wedding, and I wrote her back telling her there was no way I would miss it. Exactly 2 years after she sent me that email, she wrote me telling me she had gotten engaged. Once again, I cried happy tears for her, for the gift she had been to me when I struggled with some very low points, and for the opportunity to be able to photograph the best day of her life. Daniela, you have no idea the love I feel for you, how grateful I am for you and for your heart, and for your much deserved happiness.
Just flawless, these two:
Daniela and Elliot’s mother have an impressive collection of beautiful china and combined these heirlooms to make up a different centerpiece arrangement for each table. Loved that idea so much! Their reception was held at the Rock Barn Gold & Spa, which was everything you could want in a country club and more.
So lucky to shoot with my husband who catches candid moments like this favorite below:
After the reception, we took some final sunset photos of the newlyweds. If you’ve ever read this blog, you know that is my favorite time of day to photograph and I’m thankful for couples that carve out time to make this possible.
A final favorite before sending them off on their sparkler exit.
